National Marine Aquarium
Probably the most popular
attraction in Plymouth (particularly with children), the marine aquarium
focuses on conservation and education, and is a great place to bring the
kids to learn more about the oceans and its creatures.

The Barbican
The Barbican refers more to
a historic area of Plymouth which looks like it was plucked out of the
middle ages. The area is popular both for its prettiness and for the
many thoroughly modern businesses (restaurants, pubs, shops, etc) behind
the antiquated facades.

Eden Project
One of the world's largest
greenhouses is nestled in the giant crater overlooking St Austell Bay in
Cornwall. Inside are conservatories dedicated to such exotic
environments as the tropics, the Mediterranean and even the desert of
America.

Mayflower Arch & Steps
In 1620, the very first
Pilgrims left on the Mayflower on their historic journey to the New
World, and their courageous step towards a new life across the seas is
remembered with this Arch and Steps, as well as various plaques in the
area.

Plymouth Gin
A gin distillery has been on
this site since the 15th century. Today, the distillery is open for
visitors, who are conducted on an interesting tour of the facility,
which includes a free gin and tonic at the end!
