Callandar House
If you're curious about how
people used to live in the past 600 years, drop by this house, which
recaptures everyday living not only in the way the house is preserved
but also with actors playing the character of people from the past.
There's everything from a kitchen crew hurrying to get the food on the
table to a general storekeeper trying to get you to buy a bag of sweets. |

The Old Arcade
This arcade built in 1881 is
an excellent example of Victorian architecture. It is also home to a
number of small independent shops where most visitors can spend an hour
or two, browsing through offerings as diverse as tartan material to the
latest newspapers.

Stirling Castle
Perched on an old volcanic
outcrop and so old that no one is quite sure when it was first built,
the castle is the symbol of the city, and was made internationally
famous by the movie Braveheart.

The Wallace Monument
This prominent Victorian
tower was built in the 1850s, when Scotland was swept by a nationalistic
fervour, and was built to commemorate a true Scottish hero. From the
summit you can have a gorgeous view over Stirling, or wander through the
Hall of Heroes, which immortalizes other Scottish heroes such as Robert the Bruce, Sir
Walter Scott, Robert Burns and David Livingston.
