Longson Pagoda
The huge white
Buddha looming behind this pagoda is the symbol of the city,
while the summit of the pagoda itself offers a splendid view of
Nha Trang. For those not keen on climbing the innumerable
stairs, at the foot of the pagoda are portraits of monks who set
themselves on fire in the years before the Vietnam war, to
protest against the corrupt Diem regime.

Cham Ponagar Temple
Complex
Located on a hill
outside Nha Trang, this temple complex was built over a long
period in the 10th century by the people of the Cham kingdom,
which once ruled a large swathe of what is now Vietnam and
Cambodia. Once comprised of 8 towers, only half now remain
standing, including the 23 metre high tower, the tallest Cham
tower built and created to honour Princess Yang Ino Po Ngar, who
had taught weaving and new agricultural technologies to the
people of the region. Much of the splendour of the temple
complex remains, and at sunrise and sunset it is a starkly
enchanting place.
